Amigos de la Educación (ADLE)

ADLE (“Friends of Education”) is an academic program providing scholarships to rural youth from the Mata de Platano community of Cedros, Honduras to attend middle school, high school, and university. These scholarships are a vital source of funding because there is no free public education after primary school in Honduras.

The program manager for ADLE identified a challenge to completion of education among youth enrolled in the program due to poverty, school dropouts, and teen pregnancy. To address this challenge, The Solidarity Project supported ADLE in 2017 in developing a six-month Youth Leadership Development program focused on leadership, future-planning, healthy bodies and relationships, and mitigation of high-risk behaviors for ADLE scholarship recipients.
